This cottage is an authentic 1800's renovated cape, sitting on 40 acres at the very end of Oak Point. The Oak Point Cottage has been in the current owners' family for more than 100 years. In fact, the family's roots in Harrington date back to the late 1700's.
The cottage sits in a field of wildflowers that stretches to the bay. The property features fragrant woodlands, sprawling wildflower meadows, and a pink granite shoreline. Surrounded on three sides by water, you can see spectacular sunrises over Flat Bay and sunsets over the Mill River. It has its own mid-tide boat launch, perfect for floating small sailboats, kayaks, canoes or motor boats.
Oak Point is just 30 minutes from spectacular views and pounding surf at the Schoodic Point Section of Acadia National Park and an hour drive to Bar Harbor and the rest of Acadia National Park.

We enjoyed our stay in Oak Point Cottage. Our favorite feature about the property was the privacy but a close second was the fireplace.

The site was even more beautiful than the pictures. The house masintains its original farmhouse character but was updated with all the "modern" convieniences we needed. A very special secluded rental property from sunrise to sunset.

Easy to work with, house was spotless, the entire experience was great!
Oak Point Cottage: Its hard to pick just a few favorites! The 1920s stove is such an iconic feature of this house. The views are amazing, particularly in the new-ish sunroom (Formerly woodshed) with all of its windows. The house has such character: the old wood floors, hand-hewn beams, the cozy bedrooms... I love the acreage: I spent many hours just wandering the property & enjoying the foliage and wildlife. This house is such a gem. I feel like Im stepping back in time staying here! The property is so beautiful, and I love the views of the water and watching the fisherman come and go each day .

The sense of living in a home that had been loved for centuries. The new addition, with it's large windows, made it possible to enjoy the views even when the mosquitos kept us inside.

We loved the property and the house. The sun room was probably my favorite place- you could sit there and watch the fireflies twinkle, and enjoy the peace of the water while we ate breakfast in the morning.

Our family enjoyed this house. The kids loved the path through the meadow and climbing on the rocks along the shoreline. We enjoyed amazing weather the week we were here, which created AMAZING sunsets. The house was very comfortable for our family of 6. We enjoyed the quietness and solitude this property provides. Thank you!

Beautiful house and furnishings. Perfect for a real laid back vacation. Beautiful grounds. The only down side was we could not figure out the tide schedule for kayaking. We were not able to use the water feature of this property.

It is always easy to make a reservation. This year we had an issue with an incorrect key code but it was handled quickly and efficiently by staff.

The weather was perfect. The additional bathroom was a great addition. The sun room is my favorite room. We brought a screen house with us this year so we could escape the mosquitoes in the evening and stay outside to enjoy the ambiance.

We loved our stay at Oak Point Cottage. We never saw an airplane, however we did see eagles, osprey, ducks, momma doe, brand new fawn, grandmother (gray) doe, fox, seals. We canoed, kayaked, hiked, bicycled and played bocce in the evening. The house is comfortable, beds comfortable. Everything we needed. The location was magnificent exactly what we were looking for. We usually do many activities along the Bold Coast but is was really hard to leave the cottage property. I would recommend this rental to anyone wanting to get away from everything.

We had a great time as always :-) The Sun room addition has definitely been an improvement. Now that there were screens we were able to keep the windows open even at night and let the breeze come through. The path that is usually mowed going down to the water and around the property was not mowed out this year (that was a little of a disappointment) but we still walked down to the water anyway.

Bruce was very helpful. He gave me great tips on buying local lobster and boat guide(even if my friend refused to listen to the guide recommendation). He was also considerate and called to see if it was OK if Orkin came before sending them over. His local knowledge definitely enhanced my stay.

I have rented from multiple agencies and many vacation houses both inside and outside the U.S. and no operation has been as organized and responsive as your team at On the Water in Maine. Thank you. The house was in a gorgeous setting! We were off by ourselves - very private. Great place for a quiet family get-away.

We loved the quiet and the stars at night. The house was well equipped and comfortable. The town with a surprisingly diverse supermarket and a few eateries was not a far drive. Early on one of the guys told me about the area and suggested some visits and that is how we found Jasper Beach which we loved. (Btw it would be good to remind guests to bring a passport in case they want to visit Montebello).

Thank you for sharing your home with us. We appreciate that you are maintaining this piece of Maine and are willing to share it - especially that we could bring the entire family (ie the dog). We love how you are fixing up the house - not overdoing it but making it comfortable.
